You will be guided around New Zealand by Liam Friary, Editor of New Zealand Cycling Journal and owner of Pedal Press. Over the years, Liam’s spent countless days venturing deep into the backcountry searching for adventure. You won’t find many who can put together a better ride than him, and his extensive ride-experience means he has ridden all of the roads and knows them like the back of his hand.
WHAT TO EXPECT
After landing in Aotearoa, we’ll spend eight days guiding you around the South Island through some of the best, curated cycling routes New Zealand has to offer. We’ll begin your journey with a short flight to Christchurch. After spending a day loosening up the legs, we’ll spend a few days venturing into remote seaside landscapes, exploring back-country lanes, and bush on the way.
After that we will head to Queenstown and then to Central Otago. The arid mountain landscapes are home to some of the finest wines in our country and some of the best remote roads our country has to offer. We will base ourselves in two locations to minimise travel logistics and stay in the same room for several nights. These locations will have curated routes that will be mainly on gravel roads.
You’ll create unforgettable memories on this trip, and we’ll have a photographer on hand to document the entire trip so you can share your experiences with friends and family back home.
Our experienced ride leaders will guide you across the country and you can rest assured knowing that should you require anything; our support car and soigneur/mechanic will never be far. HOW HARD IS IT?
Journeys are a real challenge, often climbing and descending numerous times a day. The country’s terrain is made up of short hills and rolling roads that weave in and around farm’s and conservation areas. We will venture onto gravel roads for this tour, these are selected to get us into remote areas unseen by most. But because they’re fully supported, they can be enjoyed by everyone that has put in the training and committed themselves to achieving something special.
